105 Direct Scheduled Connections from Václav Havel Airport Prague under Winter Schedule

Prague, 26 October 2016

On Sunday, 30 October 2016, the winter schedule comes into effect at Václav Havel Airport Prague. 58 air carriers plan to operate at Václav Havel Airport Prague during the winter season: 53 carriers operating passenger routes and 5 cargo carriers. The new schedule features regular connections to 105 destinations in 39 countries worldwide. Compared to the same period last year, the number of direct scheduled passenger routes will be increased by four and passengers can look forward to flights to 11 new destinations.

The winter schedule will be in effect at Václav Havel Airport Prague from 30 October 2016 to 25 March 2017. “The airport has experienced the historically most successful season both in terms of the record number of destinations, at 145, and the highest number of serviced passengers. The winter season will not fall behind either. The winter schedule will offer connections to 11 new destinations in seven countries around the world. Passengers can also look forward to two new long-haul routes to China operated by China Eastern Airlines and Sichuan Airlines, which launched their operations last summer and plan to continue offering the same frequency of flights in the winter season,” said Václav Řehoř, Chairman of the Czech Aeroholding Board of Directors, praising the outlook for the winter season, adding: “Ryanair will open its base here and expand its operations at the airport in Prague, while a number of carriers will increase frequencies on their existing routes, e.g. to Kyiv, Eindhoven and Naples.”

Alongside the two Chinese carriers, a new offer from Tunis Air will be a part of the winter schedule with the Tunis route as well as an offer from Sprint Air featuring the new Radom service. Existing carriers have also planned several innovations compared to the last winter season, such as Czech Airlines’ flights to Birmingham, Odessa in Ukraine, Kazan and Ufa in Russia and Zagreb in Croatia, already operated by the carrier the summer season. Volotea’s services to Marseille and Toulouse will also be offered in the winter season, while Norwegian will launch regular scheduled flights to Stavanger in Norway.

With the start of the winter schedule, a fourth carrier will have its base at Václav Havel Airport Prague. Ryanair will launch operations of its Prague base this winter and add connections to Rome, Ciampino airport, and Milan, Bergamo airport, to its existing Prague routes.

For the first time, Airbus A380, the largest passenger aircraft in the world, will operate Prague in winter. Emirates airlines has also decided to use the aircraft capacity of 519 passengers during the up-coming season.

This winter season, the greatest number of destinations connected directly with Prague will be in Great Britain, with 12 regular scheduled routes, followed by Italy, Spain, Russia and France with nine destinations. Apart from Italy, all the listed countries will enjoy a year-on-year increase in the number of direct scheduled connections with Prague.

The greatest number of flights will be offered on the Moscow route with 58 weekly connections this winter season. Paris/Charles de Gaulle (53 weekly flights) ranks second, followed by Amsterdam (50 flights a week), Warsaw (41 weekly services) and Frankfurt (40 times a week).

During their winter break, passengers travelling from Prague will enjoy the widest selection of flights on routes to Dubai, the UAE, and to Hurghada and Marsa Allam in Egypt. Alongside typical winter retreats, flights to the Cape Verde islands of Sal and Boa Vista and flights to further away and exotic destinations, such as Mombasa in Kenya, Varadero in Cuba and Zanzibar, will also be offered.
