Beginning May 4th, the world’s largest airline will launch new scheduled services between Václav Havel Airport Prague (PRG) and its Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) hub.

The new service will provide more than 2,800 seats per week between the two cities, throughout the summer season. The service will be operated by Boeing 767-300 aircraft. Onboard, Business Class customers will benefit from 28 fully lie-flat, aisle accessible seats arranged in a one-two-one configuration, plus personal Samsung Galaxy tablets loaded with the latest movie releases, hit TV programs, games, music and best-selling book excerpts. Business Class customers can also enjoy American’s enhanced International premium cabin menus, designed in partnership with British Michelin-Star Chef Mark Sargeant and world-renowned chef Maneet Chauhan. The Main Cabin features 21 ‘Main Cabin Extra’ seats, offering up to 7” of extra pitch.

The launch of a new service from Prague is a testament to the American’s ongoing commitment to International growth and strengthening our presence in Europe” said Jim Butler, senior vice president, International & Cargo. “Philadelphia is our largest hub in the Northeast United States and will provide Czechs with a wealth of onward connections throughout North America and the Caribbean.”

From Philadelphia, American’s largest hub in the Northeast USA, customers can connect on to nearly 160 destinations across the USA, Canada, the Caribbean and Latin America. American Airlines has four Admirals Club lounges located at Philadelphia International Airport.

These investments include fully lie-flat seats; international Wi-Fi; more in-flight entertainment options and power outlets; a new, modern design for lounges worldwide including in PHL; and an upgraded assortment of complimentary healthy food, cocktails and more.

“It was our long-term plan to secure another direct route between Prague and North America. I am pleased that, effective May 2018, passengers will be able to use regular scheduled daily flights to Philadelphia. The service will also provide us with a connection to a key transfer hub for US domestic flights to destinations such as Los Angeles, San Francisco, Miami and Boston,” Václav Řehoř, Chairman of the Prague Airport Board of Directors, said, adding: “Last year, 53.45% more passengers travelled between Prague and North America year-on-year. Thanks to the new route, which will be used by about 60,000 people a year, we expect the trend to continue.”
