Prague 10/26/2011

The winter flight schedule will come into force at Prague Airport on 10/30/2011. From the end of October until 3/24/2012, 52 airlines are planning direct connections to 102 destinations in 45 countries. Of that number, 47 carriers are offering regularly scheduled flights to 96 destinations. Planned increases in seating capacity over the 2010/2011 season call for 6.4 % more seats for major carriers and 1.4 % more seats for discount carriers. By contrast, there will be a drop of 8.3 % in seating capacity compared to the same period last year, confirming the trend of summer, which saw fewer people flying on holiday then before the crisis. Overall seating capacity will increase 3 % to 5,992,234 seats offered. There may be up to 49,500 takeoffs and landings during the winter season.

The winter flight schedule will see several new destinations added. Starting November 5, Tatarstan Airlines will begin operating a direct connection once per week from Prague to Perm using a Boeing 737-500 with a capacity of up to 117 seats. Another new direct connection will fly from Prague to Gdansk, Poland starting November 17. The link will fly twice a week and be operated by OLT Jetair using an ATR42 with seats for 46 passengers.
