World of Airports, a new management game for mobile devices which was developed in cooperation with Prague Airport, has entered the world of aviation. The game offers an authentic virtual environment in which each player manages an airport and his or her own airline. To celebrate the release of the game, Václav Havel Airport Prague held a launch event today, with the participation of game journalist Alžběta Trojanová and aerobatic pilot Petr Kopfstein.

In World of Airports, players handle individual flights, thereby generating funds to gradually build their own aircraft fleet, establish new connections and expand the capacity of their home airport. In addition to Václav Havel Airport Prague, which is the most elaborate in the game, players are given the opportunity to manage airport in Innsbruck and airport in Bari as well. “We were delighted to establish cooperation with the World of Airports developers, as a result of which Václav Havel Airport Prague became the main airport in the game. Its model is accurate, including the runway, terminals, airfield and even parking garages on the premises of the airport,” says Jakub Puchalský, Prague Airport Director for Corporate and Marketing Communication. "Destinations that can be unlocked in the game and to which aircraft can be sent correspond with our destination development strategy. We also want to link the online world with the offline reality. There will be an opportunity for people to download the game by scanning a QR code, which they will be able to find, for example, in the viewing areas near the airport,” he adds.

Players can also look forward to building the airport of the future at a later stage of the game. “The development of our airport in the game, as part of its planned expansion, will correspond with how the airport would actually look like in the future, clearly demonstrating the development of Václav Havel Airport Prague,” explains Martin Kučera, Prague Airport Executive Director of Airport Operations. According to him, World of Airports is an interesting combination of entertainment and simulation of real airport operations. “An airport is a relatively complex organism which requires constant coordination of several organizational units. World of Airports enables the public to understand, at least to some extent, what these operations actually involve and how demanding they are,” he adds.

World of Airports builds on the success of AirportPRG, a game from 2017 with more than a million downloads, which introduced players to Prague-Ruzyně airport in the 1930s and 1940s. “World of Airports reflects the wishes of the community to create a game set in modern day. Moreover, it is an online game in which players can send airplanes to each other and even customize the colour of the aircraft and gradually expand their fleet, from small propeller airplanes to large wide-body jet aircraft,” says its developer, aviation enthusiast and active pilot Jakub Kadlec of the Haug-land company about the attractive gameplay options. The developers are also open to the possibility of including unique aircraft in the game, such as the one of Petr Kopfstein, an aerobatic pilot and historically the first winner of Red Bull Air Race Challenger Cup, who became the patron of World of Airports. Today, Kopfstein took part in the game’s launch event at Prague Airport together with game journalist Alžbeta Trojanová. “World of Airports appears to be a very interesting aviation game. Aviation enthusiasts will certainly appreciate that its creators paid a lot of attention to details. Everyone else will be pleased by its enjoyable gameplay or by the possibility to play online with friends across platforms,” says Trojanová about World of Airports.

World of Airports is now available to download for free on iOS and Android mobile devices from the App Store and Google Play. Players can use QR code to directly unlock Václav Havel Airport Prague in the game.
