Prague Airport to Co-Operate with Atlanta Airport and Negotiate Direct Connection with Air Carriers

“We are honoured that ATL has signed a sister co-operation agreement with Prague Airport, the first of its kind amongst all European airports. We are looking forward to exchanging our experience in many areas, from airport development, through digitalisation to customer experience. The traffic between both our countries more than doubled in 2018, so we see a great potential for further route development. Together, we would like to also initiate a discussion with the airlines about direct connection between Prague and Atlanta,” stated Vaclav Rehor, Chairman of the Board of Directors at Prague Airport.

Prague Airport is the seventh partner to have signed a co-operation agreement with Atlanta Airport. However, it is the very first sister airport in the whole of Europe. The co-operation will also include the formation of a work group to regularly share experience, promote the interaction of the two airports and seek synergies and inspiration in different areas of interest.

“International connectivity is key to Hartsfield-Jackson’s continued growth as the world’s busiest and most efficient airport,’ said General Manager John Selden. “With this agreement we hope to build on our international connectivity and collaboration not only with the Czech Republic but with our trade partners all around the world.”

The new agreement was ceremonially signed by representatives of both airports in Atlanta at the beginning of April, namely by Vaclav Rehor, Chairman of the Board of Directors, and Jiri Kraus, Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors, on behalf of  Prague Airport and by John Selden, General Manager of Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, on behalf of the American side.

As of last May, Prague Airport has also enjoyed its renewed partnership with Incheon International Airport Corporation (IIAC), the operator of Incheon International Airport, located close to Seoul, South Korea.

Hartsfield-Jackson (ATL) is the world’s busiest and most efficient airport, serving more than 107 million passengers with nonstop service to more than 150 U.S. destinations and 75 international destinations in more than 50 countries. ATL boasts a direct economic impact of $34.8 billion in metro Atlanta and $64.3 billion for the region. The Airport is the largest employer in Georgia, with more than 63,000 individuals working on-site. ATL is a frequent recipient of awards of excellence for concessions, operations, sustainability, architectural engineering and construction. In 2016, ATL set in motion a multibillion-dollar capital improvement program, ATLNext, which will modernize the Domestic Terminal, extend two concourses, construct several parking decks, expand cargo facilities and pave the way for a new hotel.
