17. 10. 2019Prague Airport experienced a 6% increase in the number of passengers handled during the peak summer season, that is, from July to September. In absolute terms, a total of 5,812,597 passengers passed through the gates of Václav Havel Airport Prague. Although it was August that was the busiest month, Prague Airport saw the highest year-to-year increase in passenger numbers in September. As usual, London remained the most visited travel destination, whereas Antalya became the most popular holiday destination. In the third quarter of 2019, the number of passengers handled at Prague Airport increased year-on-year; however, it was the opposite in the case of aircraft movements. Between July and September, the number of aircraft movements dropped by 1.0% year-on-year, with the most significant decrease being 1.5% in August.“The number of passengers handled in the third quarter is in line with our forecasts from the beginning of the summer season. As far as the year-on-year increase in passenger numbers is concerned, we even slightly exceeded the upper end of the estimate from the beginning of this year, which will undoubtedly have a positive impact on the overall operating results for 2019, when the number of passengers handled should exceed 17.7 million,“ says Václav Řehoř, Chairman of the Prague Airport Board of Directors. “The outstanding operating results that the airport constantly achieves are partly due to the addition of new flights, the increases in frequency on routes to existing destinations and the continuous capacity increases on existing routes,“ he adds.
