Marking this special occasion, the very first inbound flight from New York/Newark was welcomed to Václav Havel Airport Prague with a spectacular water cannon salute, whilst customers, guests, United employees and crew joined David Kinzelman, United Vice President International Airport Operations, Bob Schumacher, United Regional Director Sales, Jiri Vyskoc, Prague Airport Executive Director for Aviation Business and Ambassador Stephen B. King, U.S. Ambassador to the Czech Republic, for a special gate celebration before the departure of United Flight UA187 to New York/Newark.

“We are excited to inaugurate our nonstop seasonal service between Prague and our New York/Newark hub,” said Bob Schumacher, United Regional Director Sales. “Our new flight strengthens our international route network and provides customers in the Czech Republic with even greater travel choice, with over 60 nonstop connections from New York/Newark to other destinations across the U.S., Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean.”

“United Airline’s direct service to New York/Newark is the 9th long-haul route opened from Václav Havel Airport Prague in the last five years. The new service will primarily strengthen connections to the East Coast of the United States, where we see significant passenger demand. It will also allow for another increase in the number of passengers travelling long-haul from Prague. In 2018, the number of long-haul passengers increased by 24%,” said Vaclav Rehor, Chairman of the Prague Airport Board of Directors.

Located just 14 miles from Manhattan, Newark Liberty International Airport offers the fastest surface transfer journeys to many parts of the city, including the AirTrain service to New York Penn Station in midtown Manhattan, with a journey time of less than 30 minutes.
