Runways:

  • RWY 06/24: 3715 x 45 m equipped for CAT I (RWY 06) and CAT III B operations up to visibility 50 meters (RWY 24)
  • RWY 12/30: 3250 x 45 m equipped for CAT I operations

Operational Measures for Decreasing Noise

The following procedures are set for decreasing noise at the Prague Airport:

Restricting Night Flights

Take-offs and landings of aircraft with MTOW more than 45 t, except aircraft included in Bonus list, are not permitted from 2100 (2000) to 0500 (0400).

For aircraft included in Bonus list, take-offs and landings from 2100 (2000) to 0500 (0400) are permitted only within the scope of noise quota for night operations. Moreover the aircraft shall meet criteria for inclusion to noise category 1 or 2 according to AIP CR, GEN 4.1.1.4.

Take-offs and landings of aircraft with MTOW less or equal to 45 t are permitted only from 2100 (2000) to 0500 (0400) within the scope of noise quota for night operations providing that they meet criteria for inclusion to noise category 1 or 2 in accordance with AIP CR, GEN 4.1.1.4. 

Preferences of the Runway System

The take-off and landing of jet aircraft with a maximum take-off weight of more than 9 ton must customarily be performed from RWY 06/24.

In the event of the RWY being inoperative or in other cases precisely defined in the AIP CR (i.e. insufficient braking effects, a strong side wind,…..) take-offs and landings are permitted from the other RWY as well while following the conditions specified in the AIP CR at the same time.
Conditions for executing arrivals and departures from the point of view of the angle of descent, ascent and other departure procedures for jet aircraft (i.e. the position of the flaps, decreasing motor performance...) are also specified in the AIP CR.

Aircraft movements (take-offs and landings) at the Prague-Ruzyne airport are continually monitored via 11 monitoring stations and a central evaluating station - Noise and Track Monitoring System.

Construction of New Runway

Given the airport’s growth, both in the number of passengers and I the number of aircraft movements, the next crucial step in the development of the airport is to expand on the runway system. Prague Airport began the preparations for building new parallel runway RWY 06R/24L.
