Prague Airport, joint stock company, (hereinafter referred to as “Prague Airport”) is 100% owned by Czech Aeroholding, a group of companies operating in air transport and related ground services at Prague/Ruzyně international airport, whose single shareholder is the Czech Republic, represented by the Ministry of Finance of the Czech Republic. Prague Airport is the operator of the most important international airport in the Czech Republic and the largest airport among the new EU member states. In 2011, it received the Eagle Award presented by the IATA Association to the world’s most developing airport. This international air-hub handles over 13 million passengers a year. They can choose from offers of 60 airlines connecting Prague directly to more than 140 destinations around the world. Five regular Cargo carriers operate here, as well as dozens of other companies providing charter flights. Prague Airport has over 1,700 employees, while about over 14,000 people are employed by companies operating at the airport or linked to its operation.
The joint stock company Prague Airport (Letiště Praha, a. s.) was founded in February 2008 within the privatization transformation of a state enterprise Správa Letiště Praha, s. p. In 2011, Prague Airport was incorporated in the above-mentioned holding company structure with Czech Aeroholding as the sole shareholder. The statutory bodies of the joint stock company include a three-member Board of Directors and a Supervisory Board.
Prague Airport works closely with the Ministry of Transport of the Czech Republic, the Civil Aviation Authority, the Air Navigation Services of the Czech Republic, air carriers, public authorities within and outside the aviation sector, and other users of the airport. It also enjoys close cooperation with the City of Prague and municipalities in the vicinity of the airport. Three air carriers have established their base at Václav Havel Airport Prague: Czech Airlines, Travel Service and Wizz Air.
A joint stock company Prague Airport, whose shareholder is the joint stock company Český Aeroholding, operates an international civil airport in Prague.
