    The formal signing of a Partnership Agreement between Czech Aeroholding, its subsidiary Prague Airport and Incheon International Airport Corporation took place at Václav Havel Airport Prague Airport today. Incheon International Airport Corporation operates the chief international Airport in South Korea, Incheon International Airport. The agreement focuses on close collaboration in developing new connections between Prague and Seoul, in exchanging information and experience and engaging in joint marketing activities.

Over its eight decades, the airport's surface area has doubled in size and it has handled more than two hundred billion passengers on more than four million flights. Currently, the Ruzyně airport has direct connections to 111 destinations around the globe.

  • General Reconstruction of the Main Runway at Václav Havel Airport Prague About to Be Completed

    The main runway at Václav Havel Airport Prague designated as RWY 06/24, is in the second and final phase of general reconstruction. Last year, 900 meters were reconstructed and this year the remaining 2,815 meters will be completed. The runway will thus feature a brand new surface, a basis for its long-term continued safe operation. Special technology was used during both phases to remove and subsequently crush approximately 390 thousand tons of material. Currently, equipment is being used lay new cement/concrete plate which will then need to mature for almost a month. The runway will go back into operation during nighttime hours on September 30/October 1, 2013, in keeping with the plan.

    Today, the seventh year of the QUIETEST AIRLINE contest has been opened at Václav Havel Airport Prague, traditionally announced by Letiste Praha and Prague 6. The contest takes place from 15 May until 30 October, during the most intensive air traffic period. The point of the activity is to positively motivate airlines to take a friendly approach to the natural environment, with an emphasis on the issue of noise.

  • General Repairs to the Main Runway at Vaclav Havel Airport Prague Start Tomorrow

    On Wednesday, May 15, the final phase of general repairs to the main runway at Václav Havel Airport Prague will be initiated. The airport operator is undertaking extensive reconstruction because of the technical condition of the runway, which has deteriorated due to age. The first phase, which took place in 2012 and lasted three months, included the repair of roughly 900 m of the total 3715 m length of the runway. The second phase was planned for 2013 and the concluding third phase, for 2014. Because of pressure to complete repairs in the shortest time possible and a technical recommendation for further repairs, company management decided to combine both phases into one, to be undertaken in 2013, between May 15 and September 30.

    Today, a contract for the purchase of 460,725 Czech Airlines (CSA) shares – a 44% stake in CSA – by Korean Air was signed at the Government Office. Czech representatives at the signing included Petr Necas, Prime Minister of the CR, Miroslav Kalousek, Minister of Finance of the CR, Miroslav Dvorak, Chairman of the Board and CEO of Czech Aeroholding, Michal Mejstrik, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Czech Aeroholding and Petr Vlasak, first Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Czech Aeroholding. The Korean air carrier was represented by Yang Ho Cho, the Chairman and CEO of Korean Air; Chang Hoon Chi, President of Korean Air; and Mr. Won Tae Cho Executive Vice President for Corporate Strategy & Planning Divison. Thus, the search for a Czech Airlines strategic partner has successfully come to a close.

    On Sunday 3 March 2013, the summer schedule goes into operation. The countries with the greatest number of summer destinations include Italy, with thirteen destinations, followed by Russia with twelve, and Greece and Great Britain with nine destinations each. The most frequent flights - up to ten a day - will fly from Prague to Paris/Charles de Gaulle, with nine flights a day to Sheremetyevo in Moscow and eight to Frankfurt. A total 51 airlines will be offering flights to 111 regular destinations from Václav Havel Airport Prague. The closest airport connected by regular transport is in Munich, at a distance of 265 kilometers as the crow flies. By contrast, the longest route will be Seoul, at a distance of 8,258 km.
