Return to home

Before 1989 we were physically close, but at the same time could not have been further apart. We wanted to explore, discover, and see with our own eyes the entire world, which was so unreachable for us then. But 35 years ago, the curtain was lifted, and we were suddenly able to fly away. We therefore gained a bird’s eye view of ourselves and the world around us. Travelling gives us the opportunity to explore the world while staying close to our home.

And even though we each discover the world in our own way, we remain united by freedom.

Nasvícený Terminá 1 - 17.listopad

17 November 1989 – a date which touched each one of us, a date which became a symbol of freedom, a date which we celebrate together to remind ourselves every year that freedom and democracy are not to be taken for granted, that they depend on each and every one of us, and that we must take care of them together.

Václav Havel Airport Prague is a proud partner of the Thanks that we can! organisation, which aims to connect, educate, and further the desire to participate together in the forming of our future lives in freedom and democracy.

United by Freedom

The 35th anniversary of the Velvet Revolution differs from others in that, for the first time ever, the organisation Thanks that we can! brought together the largest Czech companies and non-profit organisations, and through the integrated campaign United by Freedom, it underlined and highlighted the freedom and uniqueness of each sector. The campaign affects not only the entire Prague Airport company, but every employee, because freedom is an individual concept and can mean something else to each person.

Therefore, we reached out to our employees and asked them what freedom meant to them, the freedom to travel, and what unites us at the airport.
