American Airlines will offer more seats and Premium Economy on flights between Václav Havel Airport Prague (PRG) and Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) in 2019, due to popular demand and strong ticket sales. The flight next year will be operated by larger Airbus A330-200 aircraft, featuring Premium Economy and more than 500 additional seats per week for travelers to book.

“Our Prague flight has performed exceptionally well in its first year of service,” said Richard Muise, director of Europe & Canada Operations. “The additional 500 seats per week and the introduction of Premium Economy for 2019 is a sign of our confidence in the market. Philadelphia has proven to be a great entry point into the United States for Czech travelers and offers extensive onward connections across North America.”

The world’s largest airline, American, launched seasonal service between Prague and Philadelphia in May2018, operated by Boeing 767-300 aircraft. In its first year, the flight has transported almost 60,000 customers between both cities.

“This season, traffic to the USA has almost doubled compared to last year and these excellent results confirm that there is potential for a further capacity increase by American Airlines with the ultimate goal of operating year-round service. Both flights to the USA and to the Czech Republic are very popular, which a result of joint efforts to promote the destination in the Touchpoint project, where we collaborate with CzechTourism, Prague City Tourism and the Central Bohemia Tourist Board,” says Vaclav Rehor, CEO of Prague Airport.

American’s Airbus A330-200 offers 20 Flagship Business seats, 21 Premium Economy seats and 206 Main Cabin seats. American was the first U.S. airline to introduce Premium Economy and will be the first carrier to offer the service on flights between Prague and the United States. American’s larger leather Premium Economy seats feature 38 inches of pitch with a foot rest, personal on-demand entertainment systems and larger touchscreen monitors. In addition, customers can enjoy the use of noise-reducing headphones, an amenity kit, an enhanced meal and beverage service plus two free checked bags.

Customers in Flagship Business, can look forward to fully lie-flat, aisle accessible suites, furnished with exclusive bedding designed by renowned sleep experts ‘Casper’. Other benefits include celebrity chef inspired menus, noise-cancelling headphones, an amenity kit, priority boarding and two free checked bags.

The Main Cabin features 54 “Main Cabin Extra” seats, offering up to 5 inches of extra leg room. Every customer onboard can access International Wi-Fi, enjoy hundreds of hours of free, on-demand entertainment on personal monitors and charge their devices via power outlets and USB ports at every seat.

American Airlines’ hub in Philadelphia, gives customers an onward network of over 120 destinations including Los Angeles, Miami, San Francisco, Chicago, Las Vegas, Orlando, Cancun and the Bahamas. With short taxi times, enhanced connection facilities and four of American’s ‘Admirals Club’ lounges spread throughout the airport, PHL is well suited for easy and efficient connections.
