Travel Demand from Distant Lands Is Growing

During the third quarter of this year, a total of 7.9 million tourists visited the Czech Republic, an increase of 2.2% year-on-year. Domestic tourists accounted for 58.2% of all arrivals, foreign visitors for 41.8%. Domestic stays remained stable, while foreign guest visits increased by 3.4%. In the third quarter of this year, the largest number of foreign travellers arrived from Germany (660 thousand), Poland (340 thousand), and Slovakia (288 thousand). Interest among tourists from Great Britain and Austria also grew. Prague remains the most popular destination, welcoming over 2.2 million visitors, while the South Moravian (848 thousand visitors) and South Bohemian regions (792 thousand visitors) also have a high visitor rate. The Karlovy Vary region recorded the longest average length of stay (4.8 days), which corresponds to its spa offers. Conversely, shorter stays are typical for Prague (3.4 days) and the South Moravian Region (3.2 days).

"The Czech Republic attracts tourists all year round and to all regions. Traditional markets in the neighbouring countries maintain a strong incoming position, but our popularity in more distant destinations is also growing rapidly – from the Arabian Peninsula and Brazil to Japan. Compared to 2019, the period before the Covid-19 pandemic, some markets have significantly exceeded the figures recorded then. For example, in the case of Turkey, we see an increase in the number of arrivals of more than 100%, in the case of Saudi Arabia by almost 45%, and in the case of Poland by almost 43%. The fact that the figures are growing year-on-year across the entire Czech Republic is also very positive,” František ReismĂĽller, Director of the Czech Tourism Board – CzechTourism, said and then added: “From January to September 2025, 18.3 million guests arrived in the Czech Republic and spent 46.7 million nights here. The average length of stay reached 3.55 days. Growing interest from distant markets, the return of Asian tourists, and stable domestic demand create a strong foundation for further development of tourism throughout the country.”

Hotels Lead Among Accommodation Facilities

From July to September 2025, 7.9 million guests arrived at domestic hotels, guesthouses, and other mass accommodation facilities, spending 21.2 million nights there. This is an increase of 1% year-on-year. Hotels remained the number one among accommodation facilities – they were used by 4.8 million guests, i.e., 60% of all visitors. Their results improved by 4.1% year-on-year, with the number of domestic guests increasing by 3.1% and foreign guests by 2.7%. A total of 2.7 million hotel guests arrived from abroad. “We live in an interconnected world, where information appears on the other side of the planet in a second. This also affects the hotel market. People have long stopped travelling for monuments, but they want events, modern transport, a functioning economy, and new accommodation options,” said Jaroslav Svoboda, owner of the largest Czech hotel group, Czech Inn Hotels, which accommodated over 2 million guests in 2024, and added: “If the economy works well and if we support tourism, we have the potential to reach even higher figures in the Czech Republic.”
