Prague Airport is issuing a Declaration that summarises its long-term approach to air traffic and its impact on the surrounding area, while also describing the direction it intends to take in this approach going forward. At the same time, it reiterates its fundamental role – to provide reliable infrastructure for Czech and foreign passengers and to support the accessibility of Prague and the entire Czech Republic as an attractive destination. The document clearly shows the specific measures and principles that guide the operations of Václav Havel Prague Airport.

The timing of the Declaration’s introduction is also linked to the period of the main runway closure, which brings changes in the organisation of traffic. Prague Airport views this situation as a suitable opportunity to openly and clearly describe its approach to traffic management and its impact on local residents.

"The closure of the main runway is a period when naturally greater attention is paid to how traffic is organised. We therefore consider it important to clearly and comprehensibly summarise how we approach these situations and what measures we implement in the long term," said Jiří Pos, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Prague Airport.

The Declaration is based on specific steps that the airport has been implementing for many years. These include night traffic regulation, the use of noise charges to incentivise airlines, an emphasis on deploying quieter aircraft, continuous monitoring of noise and air quality, and extensive noise abatement measures in the surrounding area. It also includes support for activities in the municipalities and city districts surrounding the airport.

The document also clearly describes the next steps in the individual stages of the airport's operation, including the future organisation of traffic once the parallel runway is put into permanent operation.

“The parallel runway will bring a fundamental change to the organisation of operations, as it will allow for the introduction of regular night-time closure of the airport and at the same time, end operations on the secondary runway, whose flight paths currently pass over densely populated areas. This is an important step towards reducing the impact of traffic on the surrounding area,” added Jiří Kraus, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors.

Prague Airport also confirms that in its operations it fully respects all conditions set out within the EIA process and other requirements of public administration authorities.

The Declaration thus represents a framework for open communication with the public, local governments and state administration, and contributes to ensuring that the operations of Václav Havel Prague Airport is carried out with maximum consideration for its surroundings.
