Effective May 2024, several changes in the area of parking services are to take place at Václav Havel Airport Prague. The existing parking system will be upgraded with a new system which will feature many improvements and provide greater comfort for drivers. The number of express parking places will increase thanks to a third express parking area and the changes will be reflected in the price lists.

The parking system will be upgraded at all parking areas of Václav Havel Airport Prague. “One of the most modern systems on the market with many benefits will await drivers upon their arrival at the airport starting this May. We believe that our customers will appreciate in particular the option of paying directly at the exit gates, using a contactless payment method or a mobile phone and a QR code,” Jakub Puchalský, Member of the Prague Airport Board of Directors, explained. The new system uses only barcodes and QR codes, and the gate barriers are equipped with light signalling and more accurate cameras for reading registration numbers. Prague Airport will also install these new cameras in the parking buildings, where clients will be provided access per registration numbers submitted during the service booking.

The PB Economy parking area, located in front of Terminal 2, will become the third Václav Havel Airport Prague express parking area from this May. Terminal 2 will still use the existing P2 Express parking area for departures, which is located on top of the overpass. For arrivals, drivers will be able to use the new PB Economy express parking area, which will operate under the same regime as the current express parking areas, primarily intended for dropping off and picking up travellers.

More Parking Places

The new PB Economy express parking area will offer 70 places and a new Taxi Point for easier orientation of passengers who do not want to use the services of the airport contracted taxi operator, Uber. The total number of parking places in the express parking areas will increase to 350. Starting this May, passengers will be able to use the PC Comfort parking building with a listed price of 80 crowns per hour for short-term parking subject to an hourly rate.

There will also be a change in the express parking price list. At All three express parking areas, i.e., P1, P2, and the new PB, Prague Airport will continue to offer the possibility of free drive through, which will be shortened from the current 15 minutes to 10 minutes and offered once every 24 hours. “According to our available data, almost 90 percent of drivers leave the express parking area within 10 minutes anyway, so the change will affect only a small number of our customers,” Jakub Puchalský explained. Under the new price list, tariffs will be charged per fifteen-minute intervals as opposed to the currently set thirty-minute intervals.

Together with the launch of the new parking system, we plan to offer taxi drivers a new product called Taxi Card, which will replace the existing value cards. With this product, the airport wants to provide a discount on parking charges to taxi drivers who behave approprietly in the airport premises and comply with the rules set by us for offering their services.
