Starting with the 2026/2027 winter season, it will be possible to fly directly from Prague Airport to Bolzano, Italy—the gateway to the Dolomites and a popular destination for Czech skiers. The seasonal route will be operated twice a week by the Italian airline SkyAlps, starting from 9 December.

“The new connection to Bolzano complements the selection of regular flights from Prague during the winter season. The Dolomites are amongst the most sought-after foreign destinations for Czech skiers, so we therefore believe this new connection will attract passengers. At the same time, it expands travel options between the Czech Republic and northern Italy,” explains Jaroslav Filip, Director of Aviation Business at Prague Airport.

The seasonal route will operate between 9 December 2026, and 28 March, 2027, offering flights twice a week—every Wednesday and Sunday. SkyAlps will operate this route using a Dash 8-Q400 turboprop aircraft, with a capacity of 78 seats. Furthermore, the flight into Bolzano offers unique views of the Dolomite mountain landscape. Compared to traveling by car, passengers can save more than four hours one way and reach South Tyrol in about half the time.

“The new route between Prague and Bolzano is an important step for both SkyAlps and South Tyrol. Through this route, we are opening up a new and very attractive market. With a direct panoramic flight lasting just one hour, we are bringing the Dolomites closer to skiing enthusiasts. We are also enabling residents of South Tyrol to travel to Prague—one of Europe’s most beautiful and culturally fascinating cities—more quickly and conveniently than ever before," says Josef Gostner, President of SkyAlps.

The new seasonal route was established based on a newly formed partnership between SkyAlps and the travel agency VELLARIA Premium Travel, in cooperation with Prague Airport. Passengers can purchase tickets individually or through the travel agency as part of a package that includes accommodations and other services. “From the very beginning, we saw the Prague–Bolzano direct flight project as an opportunity to bring something new to the Czech market. We are pleased that we have succeeded in establishing a strong partnership with SkyAlps and, together with Prague Airport, created a regular flight connection that will be available not only to VELLARIA Premium Travel clients, but to all travelers. We believe this route will make it easier to travel to the Dolomites for skiing, wellness, gastronomy, and active leisure, and will mark the beginning of further similar projects,” says Lenka Horáková, CEO of VELLARIA Premium Travel.

Bolzano is considered the gateway to the Dolomites, a major mountain range in the Italian Alps. Well-equipped ski resorts, such as the Val Gardena—so well-known among skiers—are easily accessible from the local airport. The South Tyrol region is also renowned for producing high-quality wines, while traditional local dishes—such as Tyrolean dumplings and apple strudel—are well worth trying. Those with a thirst for discovery can visit the local museum, which houses Ötzi, a more than 5,000-year-old mummy found in the Alps and considered one of the best-preserved prehistoric finds in the world.
