Air Canada has launched a regular long-haul service between Prague and Toronto, which will operate until the end of September this year. The inaugural flight was officially celebrated today at Václav Havel Airport Prague, with Canadian Ambassador to the Czech Republic, Emily McLaughlin, among the attendees.

“The last time we had a regular connection from our airport to Toronto was before the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2019. We are therefore very pleased to welcome the return of this long-haul route in cooperation with Air Canada. We also appreciate the airline’s decision to deploy larger aircraft than originally planned. We expect the route to serve around 25,000 passengers in both directions this year,” said Jiří Pos, Chairman of the Board of Prague Airport.

The long-haul connection between Toronto and Prague operates from June 6 until the end of September 2025. From July through August, Air Canada will deploy the Airbus A330-300 with a capacity of 297 seats. In September, the route will be operated by a Boeing 787-9 with 298 seats, according to current airline plans. Initially, the route was planned to be operated throughout the season by the smaller Boeing 787-8, which has 255 seats. The service includes three weekly flights, departing every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday from Prague.

“After an absence of over five years, we are proud to be back in the wonderful city of Prague, offering the only direct flight between Czechia and Canada. With 8.5 million people located within 120 minutes of Prague Airport, we know this new route will be popular with those looking to travel not only to Canada, but beyond to destinations in the US, Mexico and Caribbean. We are also confident that this new route will boost tourism on both sides of the Atlantic, while deepening economic ties between our two countries and driving new business opportunities,” said Nedime Canipek-Konuksever, Air Canada’s General Manager for Eastern Europe and Turkey.

Toronto is a city of art, green spaces, and sports. With a population of over three million, it is Canada’s most populous city — yet still offers everyday access to nature thanks to its vast network of urban parks and natural reserves. A ferry ride will take visitors to Lake Ontario, and just two hours away lies the breathtaking Niagara Falls. Ice hockey fans won't want to miss the Hockey Hall of Fame, home to the legendary Stanley Cup. For a spectacular city view, the iconic CN Tower offers unmatched panoramas. Art enthusiasts can visit the Art Gallery of Ontario, an architectural masterpiece redesigned by Toronto-born architect Frank Gehry.
