Ukrainian SkyUp Airlines starts flights to Prague from Kyiv

September 23, 2021, SkyUp Airlines (Ukraine) has operated the first flight to Prague from Kyiv. From now on there will be three flights per week: on Tuesdays, Thursday, and Sundays. Convenient schedule allows to plan both a tourist trip and a business meeting. Later SkyUp Airlines plans to increase the number of flights.

Destination for business and holidays

Ukraine and the Czech Republic are important economic partners, and trade between the countries is growing. According to data of the Embassy of Ukraine in the Czech Republic, in 2020 Ukraine ranked 22nd among the Czech Republic's foreign trade partners. Even higher economic performance is expected this year, while open borders and direct flights make an important contribution to this process. Also an intergovernmental agreement on the promotion and mutual protection of investments has been concluded between the countries, which makes business connections reliable.

Kyiv is the capital of Ukraine and a city with several millions inhabitants, as well as over 1,500 years history. From museums and historic buildings to entertainment centers, landscape parks and the mighty Dnipro River: Kyiv has a lot to surprise tourists. The city has a developed and convenient connection with all Ukrainian regions, which allows to get anywhere in the country: from the Carpathian Mountains in the west to the Black Sea in the south.

Facts about SkyUp Airlines

SkyUp Airlines is a private Ukrainian air carrier. It operates on a hybrid model, providing both charter and regular flights.

Its flight program consists of more than 60 international destinations from Kyiv and major cities of Ukraine. The network of routes covers Europe, North Africa, the Caucasus and Central Asia.

The carrier's fleet includes 14 medium-haul Boeing 737 aircrafts. Average age of them is 12 years. The company trains its own aviation personnel. Since March 2020, it has been developing freight transportation.

As of the information of the State Aviation Service of Ukraine, the carrier is one of the five largest in the country in terms of passenger traffic. According to the growth rate of the route network in 2018-2019, SkyUp Airlines became one of the most dynamic airlines in Europe listed in The Anker Report.

Entry conditions to Ukraine

All foreign citizens and holders of temporary residence permits to enter Ukraine must have a policy (certificate) of insurance issued by an insurance company registered in Ukraine, covering the costs associated with the treatment of COVID-19 and observation. Certificate must be valid for the entire period of stay in Ukraine.

Also, at least one of the following documents is required to cross the border:

a document confirming the receipt of one or more doses of the vaccine against COVID-19, which are included in the WHO list of permitted for use in emergencies;

a negative PCR test or rapid test for SARS-CoV-2 antigen performed no more than 72 hours before entry. Also in this case it is necessary to install a mobile application Vdoma (At Home) to control self-insulation. Self-isolation is not obligatory if negative PCR test or rapid test for antigen are made in 72 hours after arrival.

The requirements do not apply to children under 12 years. In addition, unvaccinated persons who enter Ukraine for transit and have documents confirming their departure within 48 hours are exempted from self-isolation and, accordingly, the installation of the Vdoma (At Home) application.
