Alicante, a port city in Spain, will impress you with its rich history, abundance of greenery, beautiful beaches on the Costa Blanca coast, and Mediterranean cuisine. The medieval castle of Santa Bárbara on Benacantil mountain, from which you can enjoy a stunning view of the whole city and the sea, is the main symbol of Alicante. On your way from the castle, don’t miss the Barrio de Santa Cruz, a colourful neighbourhood with narrow streets, or stop at the oldest church in the city, the Basilica de Santa Maria, to admire its ornate interior.

The Ayuntamiento de Alicante municipal office is also worth a visit, as you will discover a sculpture by Salvador Dalí in its portal. If you like shopping, visit the two-story Mercado Central market or the La Explanada de España promenade, which will impress you with its original optical illusion paving. You will feel like you are walking on waves.

Last but not least, visit Parc El Palmeral, a beautiful park full of palm trees, lakes, and waterfalls, located approximately five kilometres from the centre.
