Liquids, aerosols, and gels are permitted for transport on board the aircraft. In addition to cosmetics in liquid and gel form, cosmetic sprays and certain foods can also be considered liquids. If in doubt, please refer to the Most Commonly Questioned Items for Transport.
When departing from Terminal 1, you are allowed to carry in your hand baggage:
When departing from Terminal 2, you are allowed to carry in your hand baggage:
It is allowed to transport one container with liquids, aerosols, and gels over 100 millilitres / grams and up to a volume of 2 litres / kilos per person.
On lanes with CT X-rays,, it is not necessary to remove electronics and liquids from hand baggage.
You may be asked to remove all liquids, aerosols, and gels from your baggage during screening.
From 1 October 2025, one additional container with liquids over 100 ml and up to a maximum volume of 2 litres per person (e.g., cosmetics, food, and soft or alcoholic beverages) + liquids up to 100 ml placed in a transparent bag with a maximum content of 1 litre are allowed. At security screening points with CT X-rays, it is not necessary to remove electronics and liquids from hand baggage. It is permitted to transport only alcoholic beverages in their original retail packaging, with an alcohol content of up to 70% ABV.
The rules for transporting liquids may vary at different airports, depending on the availability of modern X-ray technology and space options. Therefore, it is recommended to always check the rules for transporting liquids applied at the airport from which passengers are flying back to Prague before their travel.
The current length of the screening tracks does not allow for the introduction of a larger volume of liquids without the risk of overloading the system. Sufficient security screening capacity will be ensured by the planned modernisation of Terminal 2, which Prague Airport is already actively preparing.
The change in liquid limits is possible thanks to the installation of modern CT X-ray machines, which increase both security and the seamlessness of the screening process. Terminal 1 is not yet equipped with this technology. As part of the planned modernisation of Václav Havel Airport Prague, a construction of a central security screening point in this terminal is also scheduled, similar to the one passengers now experience in Terminal 2.
Rules applied at Terminal 1 remain unchanged; only liquids up to 100 ml placed in a transparent bag with a maximum content of 1 litre are allowed. The bag must be resealable and must be able to be closed. Any additional container is not accepted. Liquids over 100 ml are not allowed.
If you need to have medication with you during the flight (or you are only travelling with hand baggage), some exceptions to the general rules regarding restrictions on liquids, sprays and gels on board the plane will apply to you. Any medication (required during the flight) can be transported without restrictions on the packaging volume, however you should always report this to the security check staff. We always recommend that you take the prescription from your doctor or confirmation from the medical facility with you; security staff may ask for such a confirmation.
Eye drops or pain killers are always deemed necessary medication and can be carried without any volume restrictions. We always recommend that you carry confirmation from your physician.
When travelling to certain countries it is recommended (in some states it is required) to carry a valid record of vaccination on an international vaccination card.
You can only carry up to EUR 10,000 across the border (or equivalent in different currency). If you need more cash, you must report this to the customs authorities. If you are travelling from one EU country to another, you must report this in both countries. Otherwise, the customs officers may seize the carried amount. Remember that the customs authorities may perform personal searches
Any limits on the transportation of alcohol, tobacco and cash across borders within the EU can be found on the European Union website.
Liquid limits apply as standard to cosmetics, food, and non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverages.
Non-EU/non-Schengen visitors must register at an EES self-service kiosk before border control. The process may take time, so please arrive at the airport early.
