Gothenburg, the second-largest city in Sweden and one of the greenest cities in Europe, is an important port as well as a place full of landmarks and culture. In the very heart of Gothenburg lies the historic district of Haga, known for its picturesque streets with original 17th-century cobblestones and old wooden buildings. Enjoy a peaceful walk here with a typical Swedish atmosphere and taste the local cuisine. Other highlights include the old wooden Town Hall from the 17th century, Gothenburg Cathedral, and the Gothenburg Opera, renowned for its beautiful architecture and impressive acoustics. Be sure to visit Skansen Kronan, a former fortification later used as a prison and now a museum of military history.
