Hurghada – Year-round Holiday in Sunny Resorts on the Red Sea Coast

Sandy beaches outlining the crystal-clear turquoise sea with coral reefs and lush marine life. This destination is located in mainland Egypt and is nestled between the Red Sea and the Eastern Desert and mountains. Hurghada used to be a quiet fishing village, but after a rapid transformation, it has become a famous resort that attracts tourists from all over the world.

Things to See and Do:

  • Explore and admire colourful coral reefs and marine life. Whether you decide to scuba dive or just try snorkelling along the reefs, you will definitely enjoy this experience.
  • Take an evening trip to the desert on four-wheelers. From the desert, you can observe the shining stars and planets in the clear night sky.
  • Enjoy the sun on one of the many beaches.
  • Practice your bargaining skills when buying souvenirs. Egypt is a shopper’s paradise, and you can find everything from traditional herbs and teas to various jewellery.
  • Experience the traditional Egyptian way of life in a shisha restaurant (water pipe with a mixture of tobacco and various flavours).

The range of activities is really wide. Lovers of not only sports and adrenaline, but also of art, will find something there.

If you decide to enrich your holiday with sightseeing, visit the Abdulmoneim Riadh Mosque. Its minarets can be seen from a great distance and its domes glitter in the sun. The entire mosque is decorated with intricate patterns and is truly an architectural marvel.

Around the coast, there are several smaller islands that can be reached by boat. Among the most famous are Giftun Islands, Abu Minqar Island, and Shadwan Island.

Hurghada also offers plenty of activities for children, such as a day full of water attractions at Makadi Water World, or a trip to the Hurghada Grand Aquarium.

In short, whether you just chill on the beach or try one of the attractions, you will definitely enjoy your holiday in this Egyptian paradise...

Weather

The weather in this destination will delight its visitors all year round. Hurghada is a great place if you want to escape the sub-zero temperatures in winter, because even in the winter months, Hurghada enjoys temperatures of around 20 degrees Celsius. In these winter months, isolated precipitation may occur, but these showers are very short and rather rare.

The period before (April to June) and after the summer holidays (September to November) has the best weather, mainly because the temperatures are not yet that high (around 25 degrees Celsius).

The summer months see temperatures of above 35 degrees Celsius and cool nights of around 20, which is typical for a desert climate.

Transport

There are, more or less, only three transport options. Whether you are travelling from the airport or around town, you can choose between a minibus, a taxi, and your own car.

Minibus – Riding a white minibus is cheap and serves as the main form of public transport around Hurghada. When travelling by minibus, it is important to know exactly where you are going. It is paid in cash.

Rental car – At the airport, you have the option to rent your own car and get around at your own pace.

Taxi – It’s a good idea to agree where you will be taken and how much it will cost before starting the journey.

It is also possible to use the Uber service in this destination, mainly in the central part of Hurghada.

Our Tip: This service may be blocked in some locations. Simply walk a few meters further and the service will become available again.

Accommodation

The offer includes several hotel resorts which you can find on Booking.com, but also villas and apartments for rent available on Airbnb.com.

The advantage is that you can easily switch between the individual areas, depending on what you are looking for.

Al Mamsha EL Seyayhi is located less than six kilometres from the airport. This area is full of locals as well as tourists. You will find hotels, villas, and apartments there. Everything is available in this location, whether you are staying in a hotel or a private flat.

For those who like mountains, beaches, or both, there is Makadi Bay. This bay is approximately 30 kilometres from the airport and offers the sea on one side and sand dunes and mountains on the other. This location is excellent for families with children (aquapark, dolphin world, aquarium, etc.)

Sahl Hasheesh is suitable, for example, for those who want to relax and take advantage of diving and snorkelling in a partially submerged reef.

Other popular areas are El Gouna and Soma Bay.
