Nice

Nice, a city in southeastern France located on the Cote d’Azur, will win you over not only with its turquoise sea and beautiful beaches, but also with its rich history and fabulous gastronomy. The oldest and most interesting part of the city is Vieux Nice, or Old Town, where you can admire the 17th century Sainte-Réparate cathedral and stroll through its grid of narrow streets. The most famous tourist attraction is the seven-kilometre-long Promenade des Anglais (English Promenade), which lines the coast of Nice from the airport to the Old Town and is nicknamed the Champs Elysées of the Mediterranean.

You can enjoy a beautiful view of the city and the harbour from the Castle Hill (Colline du Château). It is a rocky hill which rises 92 meters above the Old Town. Also, do not miss the gardens of the Monastère Notre-Dame-de-Cimiez. In an addition to the large garden with a grove of hundred-year-old olive trees, there is a monastery from the 9th century, and a church from the 15th century.

You can then experience the authentic atmosphere of the city at the Cours Saleya market and taste typical local delicacies, such as chickpea flour pancake (socca), famous French cheeses, wines, and delicious spreads. You can also go on a day trip from Nice, for example to Monaco, Cannes, or St. Tropez.
