Taipei, the capital of Taiwan, offers beautiful nature, historical monuments, and architectural gems. Visit its ancient Tianyuan and Longshan temples, and the National Theatre Hall and the National Concert Hall in Liberty Square. Both buildings are great examples of traditional Chinese architecture. In the heart of the city, you will find the most important Taipei sight, the monument to the former president of the Republic of China, Chiang Kai-shek. Breath-taking views are to be had from the Taipei 101 skyscraper, which is designed to resemble a bamboo tree. After walking around the city, relax in the forest-like Dann Park, and try some traditional local specialties. Other places of interest that you should not miss include the Xinbeitou hot spring area, the Taroko Gorge, and the tea plantations located relatively close to the city.
