Unofficial Taxi Services

Unofficial taxi services can be ordered via apps or operated with a taximeter. Pick-ups take place at express car parks P1 EXPRESS, P2 EXPRESS, and PB EXPRESS. At P1 EXPRESS and PB EXPRESS, these locations are marked as Taxi Point.

When using any taxi service other than the official Uber Airport, exercise caution and avoid overpriced rides. Prague Airport does not guarantee the accuracy of transportation pricing when using unofficial taxi services. For your safety, do not accept ride offers from individuals standing outside terminals offering transport outside of the official Uber Airport service.

If you are approached with an unsolicited offer of transport outside the official Uber Airport service, do not accept it. Be cautious of individuals claiming to be taxi drivers, often wearing labels such as "Official Taxi"—these do not represent the official Uber Airport taxi service.

Maximum Regulated Taxi Fares Within Prague

Base fare: CZK 60, Fare per kilometer: CZK 36, Waiting time: CZK 7 per minute

The usual regulated fare for a taxi ride to the city center (approx. 20 km) is around CZK 800 / EUR 32. After the ride, request a printed receipt from the taximeter and check the fare. If the driver asks for more than the displayed price or refuses to provide a receipt, you have likely been the victim of a scam. Do not pay—call the Municipal Police at 156.

These maximum prices do not apply to app-based bookings where the total price has been agreed upon in advance by the customer. The official Uber Airport service displays the price prior to booking, and unlike other rideshare apps, this price must not exceed the regulated taxi fare limits.

Safety Recommendations

When using traditional metered taxis, there have been complaints of fare overcharging and reports of illegally modified taximeters. Be vigilant—verify the fare, and consider using the official Uber Airport service, a trusted dispatch center, or a service that provides a fixed fare in advance. As an alternative, Prague’s public transport offers a fast, safe, and affordable connection.

Licensed taxis must display a TAXI sign externally, a yellow registration sticker, and a taxi driver ID card clearly visible inside the car.

The validity of the sticker and driver’s ID can be verified on the website of the Ministry of Transport.

Verify a Taxi Driver’s License

After the ride, always ask for a printed receipt from the taximeter and verify the fare. The receipt must include, among other details, the carrier’s information, pick-up and drop-off locations, distance traveled, and fare breakdown. If the fare is clearly excessive or the driver refuses to issue a receipt, do not pay and contact the Municipal Police at 156.

If you have already paid an excessive fare or encountered another issue during transport, you may file a complaint with the Prague City Hall at taxi@praha.eu.

If possible, attach the following supporting documents to your complaint:

  • Vehicle information (e.g., license plate, sticker number, or driver’s ID)
  • Route details — where, when, and to where you traveled
  • The receipt for the ride
  • Your contact information

Rideshare Applications

For rides via rideshare apps, traditional taxi regulations apply only in a limited manner. Regulated maximum taxi fares do not apply when booking through an app or website if the total fare is agreed upon in advance. The vehicle is not required to have a taximeter in such cases. The official Uber Airport service displays the price before confirming the booking, and—unlike other rideshare apps—may not exceed the maximum regulated fares applicable to traditional taxi services.

Available rideshare options include E.g. Uber, Bolt, and Liftago.
