Venice is a magical city on the water and one of the most romantic places in the world where history and art intertwine. The most famous and most visited place is Piazza San Marco (St. Mark’s Square), with St. Mark’s Basilica and Bell Tower, in the vicinity of which you will find other important monuments, such as the Doge’s Palace, the Archaeological Museum, and the Museo Correr.

The main traffic in Venice is directed to the four-kilometre-long Grand Canal, along which a number of boats, vaporettos, and gondolas constantly sail. On both banks of the canal, you will see many important buildings built between the 12th and 18th centuries. Only four bridges cross the canal, the oldest and most famous being Ponte di Rialto.

After admiring the beautiful sights of the city, visit two nearby charming islands, namely Burano, known for its colourful houses built along the canals and Murano with its traditional production of blown glass, which is also used to make valuable Venetian jewellery. While in Venice, you can experience something really unique – the traditional craft of gondola making – in the boatyard of Squero di San Trovaso.

Last but not least, taste local cichetti and ombra to feel like a true Venetian. Cichetti are small snacks, salty cakes, or meatballs, accompanied by a glass of wine, called “ombra de vin” in Venetian.
