The spiritual Eternal City full of historic monuments

The Italian metropolis with the papal state incorporated into the very heart of the city is attractive for sunny days, delicious cuisine, great wine and countless unique sights.

Rome is one of the oldest cities in Europe and the atmosphere of ancient times breathes everywhere. The most famous monuments are the Colosseum, the largest Roman amphitheatre, then the Forum Romanum, the former beating heart of Rome, and the Pantheon, the best-preserved ancient building in the City. Everything is within walking distance. Do not forget to sit on the Spanish steps for a while, where artists meet in the evening, and also the centre of fashion and sometimes even a film set.

Vatican, the world’s smallest state

It is definitely worth visiting the Vatican, the territorially smallest state of the world, which is situated in the centre of Rome. Its landmark is St Peter’s Square and St Peter’s Basilica, the centre of the Catholic Church. This is the place from where the Pope gives his blessings every Christmas and Easter. Spend a day visiting the Vatican museums with their collection of the world’s most important works of art and the unique Sistine Chapel.

Also try the excellent Italian cuisine. If you love pasta, pizza and light meals, you will feel like you are in paradise here.

And if you want to come to Rome again, do not forget to throw a coin into the Trevi Fountain, the most famous Roman fountain, with your right hand over your right shoulder.
